ABN Africa is a network of organizations that seek African solutions to the ecological and socio-economic challenges that face the continent. ABN was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. It has 41 partners in 19 African countries.

ABN is a leading voice for African solutions to environmental and development challenges. It has played a significant role in protecting Africa's biodiversity, promoting community rights, and using indigenous knowledge to conserve the environment. ABN's work focuses on four main areas:

  • Community rights: ABN works to ensure that communities have the rights to their land and resources. It does this by supporting community land titling programs, advocating for laws that protect community rights, and building the capacity of communities to defend their rights.
  • Indigenous knowledge: ABN works to promote and protect indigenous knowledge of biodiversity and natural resource management. It does this by documenting indigenous knowledge, training indigenous people in conservation and sustainable development, and supporting indigenous-led conservation projects.
  • Policy and advocacy: ABN works to influence national and international policies that affect Africa's environment and development. It does this by conducting research, publishing reports, and lobbying governments and international organizations.
